Meet the Founders

Gary & Trish Carlo

It is well documented that animals are powerful tools in bringing healing and hope to people. They impact each person differently and bring about personal growth and development. More recently horses are being used as teachers and guides as they mirror people’s thoughts and intentions to raise personal levels of self-awareness. By sharing the beauty and peacefulness of their ranch to individuals and families and groups, Trish & Gary hope to offer a place for reflection, growth and change in a safe, non-judgmental & peaceful Christian environment. It is their greatest hope that all people will come to know the amazing love of our Lord Jesus Christ and how much He wants to be in a deep and personal relationship with each person. After visiting Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch in Oregon in 2008, Trish & Gary became a Similar Ministry in offering the hope of the gospel to all who visit their ranch.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Trish took her first riding lesson when she was 12 years old and has been passionate about horses ever since. She spent the last 50 years working in various parts of the horse industry. She has a wide range of hands-on experience from teaching beginner riding lessons and holding horse shows to breeding and training Thoroughbred race horses and operating a 40-horse boarding stable. Trish rode hunters as a teenager and taught lessons to youth groups. After moving to Ocala, Florida she became fully responsible for breeding, foaling and raising thoroughbreds as well as breaking and galloping the youngsters. Although she holds her trainers license to run racehorses, she found life on the farm much more exciting than the track. Having moved back to Ontario in 2013, she now enjoys trail riding and sharing her horses and experiences with others. She is well aware of the fact that horses have greatly contributed to the person she has become, and loves to teach others what she has learned from these insightful animals. Trish’s business experience includes General Manager for a small business manufacturing company in Ontario for over 30 years, creating and running a Fashion Consulting business and the organization and running of her Thoroughbred operations. Her business expertise is now focused on Story Book Meadows.
Gary began riding at 14 and has always owned a horse or two. After owning an auto body shop for many years, he decided to use his expertise in metalwork to start his own business in Ocala, Florida, manufacturing front entrance gates and stall accessories at Above All Gates. A skilled horseman, Gary enjoys trail riding and working with the horses. His dedication to their ministry is apparent as he offers encouragement and hope to those visiting the ranch. Gary has restarted his metalwork business “Above All Gates” here in Ontario offering aluminum welding, metal fabrication and manufacturing custom entrance gates and fencing and specialty stall fronts. He also creates one of a kind custom metal/wood furniture for homes and offices.
